BY FAITH, Morning Star Lutheran Church moves forward with the vision of constructing a new worship facility. A capital fund appeal completed in 2009 raised more than $685,000 of the $3 million project cost, allowing for many pre-construction items to be taken care of.
The need is great as we venture forth in faith. This congregation has shown growth over the past 18 years and we need a new worship facility. Now, Sunday worship is held at two locations. The Family Life Center, where the majority of our congregation worships, is a multi-purpose space, forcing a weekly setting up and putting away of everything used by the congregation, choir and musicians. This is not the best stewardship of the congregation’s time and energy. A portion of the congregation has never worshipped in the sacred space of a sanctuary because our present sanctuary has not been able to contain the nontraditional service for the past six years. The traditional service has been deterred from growing because that service’s attendance has exceeded the comfortable capacity limits for seating. The need for a larger sanctuary to provide a sacred space for both traditional and nontraditional worship is great!
The need for financial support and sacrifice on behalf of the entire congregation is undeniable. The total anticipated cost for the construction project is $3.1 million. The congregation has established safeguards to avoid taking on too large a debt load. These guidelines tell us we need a minimum of $780,000 to see this project come to pass.
